Holy Manure
Don’t waste what God wants to use to grow something in you
Manure. It’s smelly, nasty, and you don’t want to step in it. Though not found in the Parable of the Sower, Jesus gives the illustration of four different types of soil and how to respond to the seed. Manure has been used as a natural fertilizer for centuries. Manure contains and helps soil in a variety of ways:
Adds essential nutrients (N, P, K) for plant growth
Improves soil structure & aeration for stronger roots
Boosts water retention to keep soil moist longer
Feeds beneficial microbes that enrich the soil
Builds long-term soil health by recycling organic matter
Sometimes we cause our manure, at times others do, or it happens because of our fallen world. Regardless, God wants to use the manure in our lives as Miracle-Gro to bear fruit. No pain, tear, or disappointment is wasted. God finds usefulness for all of it.
It may not be tomorrow, because manure has to age a bit, but as we continue on the journey of healing, the wounds of the past help us become wounded healers.
